General Santos – The Moro Women Development and Cultural Center, Inc. (MWDECC) participated the Workshop on Advanced Newswriting for Peace Correspondents conducted by Kutawatu Multimedia Network (KuMuNet) on August 15-17, 2015 at Sarangani Highlands, General Santos to enhance the skills and knowledge of its member organizations in newswriting.
The workshop was participated by the member organizations of KuMuNet composed of Tri-people such as Bangsamoro, Indigenous People and Settlers. It is aimed to strengthen the capacities of their news writers in developing an effective material that is factual, transparent and non-partisan using the lens of conflict transformation and peace journalism.
KuMuNet is an open network existing since 2010 that brings together communications and advocacy components of member organizations through strategic communication skills sharing and development. Its focus activities is to strengthen each organizations advocacy work; develop collaborative advocacy/media strategy, and effective civil society organizations-media engagement.
MWDECC is one of the active radio anchors of the Radio Program of KuMuNet, “Bangsamoro Ngayon: Tinig ng Kapayapaan (Bangsamoro Today: The Voice of Peace)” from 2012 to present. It is a one-hour weekly radio program in the radio stations in the cities of Cotabato City and Kidapawan City as well as in the Province of Sulu and Tawi-Tawi aimed in addressing and advocating issues related to the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB), the Annexes, the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) and the Peace Process in general.
